Tonight’s X-Factor auditions saw a number of brilliant performances, but two left the music mogul significantly underwhelmed.
First the ITV panel watched as shy 14-year-old Aaliyah Robinson stepped onto the stage.
Performing an unusual rendition of Awolnation hit song Sail, the hopeful appeared devastated when 58-year-old Simon stopped the performance early.
The judge explained he didn’t think it was the right song choice and asked the contestant to return with something different later on in the auditions process.
Then came Acacia K, a 15-year-old singer who gave it her all with Nicki Minaj tune Bed of Lies, which features Skylark Grey.
But audiences and viewers were left perplexed when Simon did the exact same thing, stopping the hopeful’s audition midway through.
X Factor fans then saw Simon hatch a plan as he left his seat to execute it.
Heading backstage, Simon declared he wanted Acacia to sing with Aaliyah, having sensed the pair could bring something special as a team.
The potential contestants were then given the opportunity to practice a completely different song together, which turned to be a huge hit. |
